New local company opens its doors and launches its website
On March 6 2006 a specialist holiday company will launch. Walking and Wildlife Adventures aims to provide small group experiences for people who want to Explore, Discover and Understand the unique and beautiful landscapes and wildlife of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.
The launch will be celebrated with the unveiling of the company’s new website www.walkandwild.com at a celebratory event to be held in Staveley, near Kendal at 1pm on Monday 6 March.
Cory Jones and Alison Fawcett are the driving force behind the venture that will be based near Settle.
‘We felt there was a demand from visitors to the area to discover its special wildlife and unique qualities. Most visitors have an interest in the landscape but struggle to find someone to explain it to them.’
The pair are aiming to run friendly courses providing walking and wildlife experiences with expert group leaders. These will last from two to five days in length, some will be themed such as Limestone Landscapes or Three Peaks Tour whilst others will be aimed at specific markets such as women and singles only.
Walking and Wildlife Adventures are also helping to find and develop the course leaders of tomorrow. They will offer leadership training and development in a range of topics including first aid, navigation and risk assessment.
